Q: What is the limit a family’s salary can be to be granted a wish?
A: Finances are not considered or asked during the entire wish process.
Q: I see on the news a national organization granting wishes. Are you associated with them?
A: No. Wishing Well Texoma is entirely independent of any other organization. We are, however, a member of The Association of Wish Granting Organization (www.AWGO.org).
Q: How long have you been around and how many wishes have you granted.
A: Wishing Well Texoma was organized in 1986 and we have granted almost 150 wishes.
Q: What is the qualification of a wish?
A: 1. Is age 3 through 18 (prior to their 19th birthday at the time the wish is approved by the committee.
2. Lives in what is known as the TEXOMA area. (Atoka, Bryan, Carter, Choctaw, Coal, Huges, Jefferson, Johnston, Latimer, Leflore, Love, Marshall, McCurtain, Murray, Pittsburgh, Pontoto and Pushmataha, and the following four counties in north Texas: Cooke, Fannin, Grayson and Lamar).
3. Has life-threatening or catastrophic illness apart from what is considered by medical science as normal.
4. Has not had a wish granted by this or any other such wish-granting organization.
Q: Do you just buy a plane ticket for a child and send them to Disney World?
A: Wishing Well Texoma is unique in that we offer an escort for the child and family. If escorts are needed, we will be sure the wish is fully enjoyed by being a chauffeur, tour guide, photographer, what ever it takes for the family to maximize their wish.
Q: Where does the wish stay and how much money does the family need?
A: This depends on the wish. We will take care of all arrangements. Further, it is our desire that the family does not need any of their own money to enjoy the wish.
Q: Who is eligible to participate on WISH trips?
A: Generally, immediate family members living in the home of a wish child.
Q: Does the WISH have to be a trip?
A: Wishing Well Texoma will grant a wish to children that qualify that may be something other than a trip, if that is the child’s wish. The wish is limited only by the imagination of the child. This wish may be goods/services provided to the child.
